Will Rose is an animator and designer with a passion for the natural world.

Based in London, Will has over 20 years of experience in the animation industry working on popular children's shows such as Peppa Pig and Hey Duggee as an animator, designer and writer. His passion for nature and love of telling a story has led him to make his own award-winning shorts as well as making animated films for David Attenborough, Yoga with Adriene, Leica and the British Trust for Ornithology.

A self proclaimed bird-nerd, Will has created his very own animated bird guide for beginners and recently won the FBA artist award at the Society of Wildlife Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. Will’s fascination for wildlife has led him to create work based on the environment around him, whether it is an artist residence in Maine, a hillside in Northern Spain or helping to depict the wildlife in the uplands of Sweden.

Having learnt from working on some of the most popular children’s shows around the world, Will has now turned his storytelling and design skills to work on projects that support the preservation of our precious wildlife and environment.

CURRENT WORK

In October, to encourage US citizens to go out and vote, Will worked with the world famous Yoga with Adriene to create an animated short featuring her famous dog Benji . He recently worked for Leica and has been involved in creating a documentary 'The Last Song of the Nightingale' with the talented Wildlife photographer Luke Massey for Sunbittern Media. When not working on these separate projects he works at STUDIO AKA as a Designer for the triple BAFTA winning BBC children's show HEY DUGGEE

OTHER CLIENTS AND WORK

Will is always looking for wildlife based projects after having much success working with the BBC on the 'ATTENBOROUGH'S ADVENTURES' series for the Cbeebies Storytime app, which he also appeared on BBC Breakfast news to promote, back in February 2017. The app also featured in many national newspapers, including The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph with the story running with pictures of Will’s work.

Will has worked for over 15 years in the animation industry, working as an animator on three series of PEPPA PIG at Astley Baker Davies, which included co-writing the episode Pedro is Late. He has also worked as an animator on Astley Baker Davies’ Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom, Tiger Aspect’s Mr Bean as well as animating for Airside studio and David Shrigley.

Will has directed and animated shorts for the ‘California Inspires Me’ series for The California on Sunday Magazine/Google Play and has worked for French Press films in San Francisco.

short films

When time allows and ideas form, Will creates and self funds his own independent animated short films.

He found international success with ‘The Goat Herder and his lots and lots and lots of goats’, which he created, animated and directed. It has picked up several awards, including the Independent Talent Award for Animation Direction at Animated Exeter, Best Independent Animation Award at the Blue Plum Animation Festival, Best Animation for the Family and Children Award at the Sodak Animation Festival and was also a finalist at the New York

International Children’s Film Festival. It was also in competition at Bristol Encounters, the San Francisco International film festival and many more. The film was awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick and also featured as part of the BBC Big Screens, which screened short films across several UK cities.

Will’s second short, Eagle Blue won the Audience Award at the London International Animation Festival and it featured at Bristol Encounters and the New York International Children's Festival plus was also awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick.

His latest project is a social media based series of 40 second shorts called DUCK designed to be viewed on your phone via Instagram. Poor Duck is in constant peril. Each episode he finds himself in a tight spot! He tries to avoid danger by 'ducking' and jumping only to find himself in a new desperate situation as each episode ends with a cliffhanger. Will designed, animated and enjoyed creating the original music for this comic series.
